VALENTINES

9 VALENTINES IDEAS ON A BUDGET

*WARNING: CRINGE ALERT*

Although I do believe the opinions of those around me that you should love your partner everyday of the year, I see no problem with celebrating that love even more on one particular day. So the big day is creeping up on us, and perhaps you are in agreement with that first opinion, and don’t feel the need to spend the big bucks on your partner, or maybe you just forgot… This post is for those looking to give their partner something more sentimental and thoughtful on v-day, or simply those on a budget.

No. 1 // MAKE A SCRAPBOOK

One thing I have done before, usually on our anniversary, is make a scrapbook full of our memories. I am one of those people who will save the receipt from the car park we parked in that one time on holiday. I know right, sad. But it’s exactly for this! I fill my scrapbooks with photos, memorabilia from road trips, holidays and days out such as tickets, leaflets, maps and receipts. They’re great for filling up space, and will make your partner go ‘Aww, you saved that?!’. I keep a box where I put all the little bits in, and then when it’s time to update the scrapbook everything is in one place ready to go.

No.2 // PICK YOUR OWN FLOWERS

I do love flowers, but they can be expensive, so what’s more thoughtful than picking your own and making sure they’re the exact ones he or she will love? Be careful where you pick them from though, you don’t want to ruin anyone’s front lawn garden display…

No.3 // MAKE YOUR OWN CARD

I do this all the time! Not just for valentines but birthdays and Christmas too. If you’re a creative person this should be a no brainer. I do tend to cheat sometimes and replicate ideas from Pinterest, i.e. the one in the photo above. But no problem it’s the thought that counts, right?

No.4 // THE CLASSIC MIX TAPE

Now let’s bring this to the 21st century, why not make them a playlist on iTunes of your favourite tunes that you both love to sing along to? Go back through your music and pick out those songs that will bring back all the good time memories.

No.5 // OPEN THIS WHEN… LETTERS

Take some envelopes, and write on the corner ‘Open this when…’ and on each you can write cute things like ‘when you miss me’, or ‘when you’re annoyed at me’. What you put inside the envelope is totally up to you, but photos, a good memory, or just some comforting words can be a really nice thing to read when they need it the most.

No.6 // 62 REASONS I LOVE YOU

Now it's time to wrack your brains, can you think of 62 reasons, 62?! It doesn’t have to be 62... but it’s a nice idea to take a jar with a lid, and pop little notes inside that can be picked out at random with adorable little reasons why you love your partner.

“I LOVE YOU, EVEN WHEN YOU FART IN BED”

No. 7 // GET BAKING

emmapharaohcake

Bake their favourite cake, pastry or whatever. Get creative in the kitchen, it shows you’ve put the effort in and actually thought about them, rather than just buying something in a shop and saying ‘that will do!’

No. 8 // FILL A JAR WITH THEIR FAVOURITE SWEETS

I do love a jar… Anyway, fill a jar with their favourite sweets and chocolates. Or if they’re a health nut fill it with seeds, nuts and dried fruit.

No.9 // COOK DINNER AT HOME & WATCH THEIR FAVOURITE FILM

emmapharaohrisotto

Instead of spending £££’s on dinner out, buy the ingredients for their favourite meal, get in the kitchen and get cooking! After dinner sit down and watch their favourite movie, even if you hate it.

Just a few ideas, after all, it’s the thought that counts.
